Announcements and Music for February 2nd.
All,
Great rehearsal last night. I’m very sorry to hear we have so many members off due to back injuries! Maybe we need to focus on core strength exercises in addition to our technical work. Please be careful and take care of yourselves!
We received some feedback with reference to the idea of moving our AGM to October vice June of every year. One comment suggested that if this change occurs we may be required to hold a short AGM in this June to ensure we do not go longer than one year between meetings. Your Executive will investigate and may hold a very short AGM in conjunction with our Folder Night if required. A second comment dealt with the concern that if a President completed his or her term in the summer months that anyone acting as President until the AGM would not have been officially elected by our membership. This valid concern does not apply if the Vice President acts in the role of President during those intervening months. As an elected position within the Executive, the Vice President’s role is to act as President in the absence of the incumbent. Thank you for your feedback to date on this issue. Your Executive plans to vote on this issue immediately following rehearsal on Feb 2nd. Please feel free to continue to offer your comments, concerns or questions prior to our vote.
The minutes for the Executive Meeting held on Jan 25th are now posted on the band website. The document can be found in the Members Only section of the Band website: www.gloucesterband.ca
