Announcements, Important Dates and Music for March 29th

On behalf of all of us I want to again congratulate Lizzy on her audition for entrance to the music program at the U of Ottawa. Based on her performance the board has recommended to the University that she be formally offered acceptance to their program. Well done Lizzy!!

We have 5 rehearsals remaining until our Spring Concert on May 7th. We have had to change venue to the Community Pentecostal Church on St Joseph Blvd. This change and the associated cost of its use have forced us to increase the cost of our tickets and confirm exactly who will be in attendance as early as possible. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under and free for those under 2 years old. We passed around a clipboard this week to confirm spelling of everyone’s name for the program and if you are able to make this concert and our commitment at Jacques Cartier Park on June 5th. If you were not at rehearsal or did not see the clipboard, please email our Secretary with those details (annatessierpersonal@gmail.com) as soon as possible. The stage area for our spring concert is tight so knowing how many will be performing will allow us to plan the seating plan appropriately. We will be asking all our members to sell a minimum of two tickets each.

Tickets and programs are being produced by Anna and should be available shortly. To help us advertise for our concert and perform in small ensembles similar to at Christmas, I have borrowed two different sets of small ensemble books from Lisa. If these books work out I will look into purchasing our own copies for the band. Please let Anna or I know if you are interested in performing in a small ensemble to help advertise for our spring concert.

As discussed during our January Executive Meeting and published in our minutes for all to read, we will be trying out a couple of new initiatives addressing our goal of sharing our music with the community and to increase our concert attendance. We will be inviting some of the local senior’s homes to bring some of their residences to enjoy our concert at no cost. We will also look to partner with some of the local non-profit and / or charity organizations and offer them a set number of free tickets. In exchange for promoting our concert and bringing in audience members that might not have otherwise known about our concert, they get to keep the ticket sale income for their organizations. For those who may have concerns, the Community Pentecostal Church comfortably seats approx 500. We require 80 tickets to be sold to recover our costs. Historically without guest performers we draw approximately 150 – 200 fans to our concerts. Even if 5 senior’s homes each bring 10 residents and partner organizations each sell 10 tickets we will not be filling the church seats. Please let your executive know or email us if you have suggestions on who to share our free tickets with.
