Announcements and Music for Nov 1st

Bandathon. Thank you for all who made it to our Bandathon rehearsal. Please don’t take for granted the impact your time spent sharing your love of music with our future musicians can have. I spoke to a mother of one musician who said that her daughter was so excited after our rehearsal and we were the talk of the breakfast table the following morning. I have also heard that one of our members is jealous that we don’t do a bandathon with her school; careful what you wish for… I have posted pictures of the evening on our Facebook page and they will be posted in the member’s only section of our webpage shortly.

I would like to extend a special thank you to trombone Luc. As some of you already know Luc is a retired music teacher who spends his winters in Florida. Playing in several bands down south, Luc is a very talented musician and trombone player. On his way south today, Luc was going to skip our Bandathon as he was busy packing for his return trip. When Luc read our email about giving back to the community, he changed his mind and spent the evening with us. At the end of our rehearsal, as everyone was packing up, he took some extra time to dedicate to the young St Matt’s trombone players. In the few months Luc has spent back with us, he has graciously accepted our requests to host at least half a dozen Orleans Jazz Band and GCCB trombone sectionals. Thank you Luc for all your time spent helping us improve and grow as musicians – safe travels as you head back down South.

AGM – We have now successfully transitioned to a fall AGM! Thank you to all who helped ensure we were able to declare a quorum and call our meeting to order. Minutes of our meeting along with an electronic copy of the presentations will be sent to you all and posted on our website shortly. I would like to officially welcome Andrea to your Executive as our new Secretary. I would also like to thank Anna for her time and contributions to our band as she completes her two-year term as Secretary.
